MAY be I will? April Showers have brought May flowers. Did you get to Palm Springs via the high desert or Joshua Tree? Even our Las Vegas Yuccas are in spectacular bloom. So MAY BE you need to get OUT and abOUT. MAYbe one or more of these TEN destinations will make your list.

Nobody likes the I-15 traffic. Let us map your way via Nipton/Kelso (the train route) or via Big Bear on the scenic way to Palm Springs (#3) then over Palms to Pines highway to a top ten, San Diego (#9). Yes, San Diego is also a Cruise Port for both Mexican Riviera and Hawaii. The trip back could route up I-15/405 via Long Beach (top 10 Pride Festival May 19-20). Long Beach May 5, a Gay Group sails north to Vancouver BC with options to Alaska. Fares/taxes for two, start at $268.

Check OUT Seattle (#6) a shore side and train ride or BC Ferries’ San Juan Islands trip south from Vancouver. Back to the Southwest Sonoma California comes a (#4) which for wine lovers and fans of the Russian River or Gold Country Sierra Hikes is a Must See/Do/Repeat. Golfers remember our “Golf and Grape Getaways to Hot Links I Cool Climates” for Summer 2019 .

On the Pacific Rim the Ultimate May destination is Puerto Vallarta (#1) Pride, May 20-27. Around the Pacific Rim the news is Princess Cruises will home port the “new” Love boat Pacific Princess in Papeete Tahiti in 2020.

On Across the Pacific Bangkok (#10) makes the list and we all know it is the route to Phuket and Pattaya beaches. Did You know Star Clippers does seven nights coastal sailings seasonally between Phuket and Singapore? While thinking Asia, Indonesia, Viet Nam, Cambodia, Hong Kong and other destinations in China, Japan, Korea, Philippines and Fiji might make your list. Let’s not forget to mention the gayest Mardi Gras in Sydney (#8) February 2020.

Back to the USA/Canada GED included Montreal (#7) and of course New York City (#2), home to both Fire Island beaches and World Pride/Stonewall 50th events all during June. FYI an ultimate way to view the Statue of Liberty is entering the Hudson river on a cruise ship from Montreal or transatlantic from Europe.

Does Europe make the list? Yes! They say Madrid (#5) is a great base for all of Spain/Portugal and Morocco. As an art/architecture lover I would include Bilbao (Basque country and the Pyrenees) Art Museum the “original” Gehry monument that preceded our local Ruvo Center building.

Atlantis, RSVP, Olivia etc. has the whole ship/resort LGBTQ events, but remember we have smaller and specialized group tours, cruises, vacations. Yes! Vegas makes the list for PrimeTimers annual West Coast Gathering. Other Vegas events include the New Matinee Weekend which is moving to OUR PRIDE WEEK.
