Continuing its commitment to providing the Las Vegas community with HIV and AIDS education and resources, The LGBTQ Center of Southern Nevada will host two events.

On Oct. 11, The Center will host the 7th Annual HIV Summit, “Ending the HIV Epidemic: Boots on the Ground.” This forum brings together industry professionals to communicate, educate and exchange visions that support our collective goal of ending the HIV epidemic. Dynamic speakers and breakout sessions deliver an empowering and uplifting experience.

Current sessions include:

  • Campaigns and Initiatives Across the State
  • Changes to the Eligibility Process
  • Compassion and Result Delivery
  • STIs and HIV Risk: Recognizing how STIs can be a Red Flag for HIV Risk.
  • The P is Silent: PeP in Southern Nevada

The HIV Summit will be held on Oct. 11 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Center. The event is open to the public. Individuals interested in attending can register for free at thecenterlv.org/hiv-summit. Space is limited.

On Saturday, Nov. 30, The Center will host the annual World AIDS Day event. The day will be filled with fun and exciting activities. There will be food, music, guest speakers, performers, touching tributes, and important educational information/materials.

World AIDS Day, designated Dec. 1, every year since 1988, is an international day dedicated to raising awareness of the AIDS pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection and mourning those who have died of the disease. Government and health officials, non-governmental organizations, and individuals around the world observe the day, often with education on AIDS prevention and control.

Free HIV testing will be available onsite at the Wellness Clinic.
