The Center, serving the LGBTQ community of Southern Nevada, will hold their annual Honorarium on Saturday, Oct. 5, inside the Palms Casino Resort. The Center will be celebrating over a quarter of a century serving the local community but will also be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the riots outside the Stonewall Inn.

The Stonewall riots are what brought national attention to an emerging LGBTQ equality movement and was the birthplace of the modern-day LGBTQ pride movement. “This is a time we honor our past, celebrate the present, and look forward to the work still to be done,” wrote Joe Oddo, The Center’s board president and “Tri-Chair” of their Honorarium committee, in a letter seeking sponsorships for the event.

The Honorarium is the largest fundraising and celebratory event for The Center. Oddo’s letter also stated that he expects over 500 persons to attend, including the “premier members of Las  Vegas’ society and business communities. ”

The Center is a 501c3 organization. Those interesting in buying tickets, donating items for the auction or advertising are invited to call The Center at 702-733-9800 or visit https://thecenterlv.org/honorarium/2019

This year’s honorees include the Center Legacy Award to Judy Bowen; Humanitarian of the Year, Bryan Chan; the Center Hero Award to Lanny D. Love and Person of the Year award to Milo Miloscia.

The Honorarium, Saturday, Oct. 5, begins with a VIP reception, an auction and cocktail hour at 6 p.m. and a 7 p.m. program. There is an onsite afterparty at KAOS (nightclub) in the Palms from 10 p.m. to midnight. An “official” LGBTQ afterparty will be held at Piranha Nightclub at midnight.

Tickets to the event, which includes dinner and two drinks are $250 per person. A VIP reception, dinner and a VIP open bar, is $325. Tables of 10 are $2,000 and VIP tables of 10 are $3,000.
