February, The Love Month! While Valentines Day dominates the retail scene, “Love of Country” can be celebrated with Presidents Day.

Let’s start however with sports travel. Super Bowl is Feb. 3 in Atlanta. There are many affordable flights to the Florida cruise ports or to Disney World and Universal Studios stop or change there, so it would be easy to combine Super Bowl with a cruise or other Florida vacation.

With Sin City Classic having been in Las Vegas this past January, perhaps it’s time to get Your Compete On? Beach competition in Ft. Lauderdale for Pride is a beaching good time. Of course, extending your trip to the ultimate LGBTQ Island, Key West can be fun.

Although Presidents Day is Feb. 18, consider celebrating President Lincoln on Feb. 12 with a visit to Chicago. Washington and the cherry tree legend makes a good excuse to splurge for cherry pie on Feb. 22, or better yet, a trip to Washington State or Washington D.C., assuming the government has reopened. There are so many places to visit in D.C., including Congress, the White House, the monuments and museums. If you’re so inclined, you can even line the President’s pockets by booking a room at the old US Post Office.

Too cold? Two great US beaches offer a winter escape for you, your spouse or friends. These gay getaways include South Padre Island, Texas. While in the area You can visit the southeast end of the proposed wall. Closer to home the Channel Islands are just off shore from Santa Barbara.

Since “walls” are such an issue these days, consider “The Wall” on Royal Caribbean’s Allure of the Seas. Closer to home take a RV Vacation to Quartzite AZ for the LGBTQ gathering with a side trip to the border or beyond to Bisbee and the Shady Dell, a 1950’s-era trailer park or south into Baja and the wine trail from San Felipe to Ensenada. Winter flights can include Panamanian Airlines’ non-stop to Panama City and The Canal with connections to most of Central and South America. The Ultimate is Carnival in Rio starting Feb. 1-10 and while you’re a bit late for this year, book now for 2020. Again there’s the Gay Mardi Gras in Sydney, Australia. Hot sun, beaches and fun starting on Valentines Day. If food, wine and history is your thing a visit to the home town of St. Valentine, 270 AD, Rome can be a great place for romance and revelry. Call me to help you “consolidate” affordable airfares and hotel deals. This is the golden year (50) of celebration of Pride and Stonewall.
