Open enrollment for a 2020 ACA (Affordable Care Act) health insurance plan ends Dec. 15.

The Affordable Care Act, also known as the ACA or “Obamacare,” is a comprehensive federal health care reform law enacted in March 2010. The law has three primary goals:

► To make affordable health insurance available to more people (the law provides subsidies and tax credits to lower costs for lower-income consumers).

► To expand the Medicaid program to cover all adults with income below 138 percent of the federal poverty level.

► To support innovative medical care delivery methods designed to lower the costs of health care in general.

For plan year 2020 the Exchange will no longer enroll Nevada consumers on the federal platform, HealthCare.gov, for eligibility and enrollment. The Exchange is a fully operational State Based Exchange (SBE) and consumers will now enroll on Nevada Health Link’s website: enroll.nevadahealthlink.com

People may be eligible for different federal subsidies and financial help based on their individual or household incomes. Nevada Health Link is the only place where you could be eligible to receive financial assistance to help pay your monthly premium. Enrollment for a Qualified Health Plan (QHP) through Nevada Health Link is typically limited to the Open Enrollment Period, which occurs only once per year.

The Open Enrollment period begins on Nov. 1 and ends on Dec. 15. In order to receive coverage by Jan. 1, you must complete your application by Dec. 15.
